BILLINGSGATE POST: The Mayor of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, Buckwalter “Bucky” Beaver III passed away at the age of 91 on January 1, 2020. He left three sons to share his estate; BuckaRoo, BuckaRay and BuckaRee. All shared the same nickname, “Bucky.”
Buckwalter’s great grandfather, Buckwalter I, founded the small town which shares his eponymous name. “Crossing” was added later because no one dared cross the man lest he die. Because the Beavers had very prominent central upper incisors that overlapped their lower lip, each of them received the moniker, “Bucky” as part of their heritage.
The father spoke to each of his 3 sons when he sent them off to college..
“I feel it’s my duty to provide you with the best possible education, and you do not owe me a cent for that. However, I want you to appreciate it. As a gesture of appreciation, please each put $ 1,000 into my coffin when I die. I may need the cash to buy my way into heaven.”
And so it happened. His sons became a doctor, a dentist and a lawyer, each very successful financially. When their father’s time had come, and they saw their father in the coffin, they remembered his wish.
First, BuckaRoo, the doctor, put 10 newly printed crisp $ 100 bills onto the chest of his deceased father.
Then, BuckaRay, the dentist, dropped ten crispy Ben Franklins onto his beloved father’s open palms.
Finally, it was BuckaRee’s turn to honor his father’s wish. The heartbroken lawyer reached into his pocket, took out his checkbook, wrote a check for $ 3,000, and then discretely put it into his father’s coffin as he pocketed the $ 2,000 cash.
The lawyer is now in Congress. A Democrat of course.
Slim: “Who said you can’t take it with you.”
Dirty: “Yo, Dude. I guess it was his son, the lawyer.”
